Fraser River Forcemain Crossing – Land Portion

Client:
District of Mission
Location:
Mission, BC

The existing 600 mm diameter steel siphon sanitary main from Mission to Abbotsford was installed in 1982 across the Fraser River downstream of the Mission Bridge. The District of Mission has recognized the vulnerability of the existing forcemain, as it is the only pipe conveying wastewater to the JAMES Waste Water Treatment Plant, and has identified the need to install a new pipe in parallel with the existing pipe to increase capacity and provide much needed redundancy.

The work includes:

  • Install of approximately 1520 m of 900 mm diameter Steel Pipe.
  • Supply and install valves, air/vacuum valves, bends, manholes, flow meter, and other appurtenances.
  • Supply and install a concrete outlet chamber and flushing chamber.
  • Supply and install approximately 280 m of 200 mm diameter PVC Pipe and associated appurtenances.
  • Supply and install a temporary watermain bypass for the duration of construction
