The Opportunity
JJM Construction is looking for a Welder Fabricator to join the team in Delta BC.
Responsibilities
The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the essential functions, while providing the highest quality construction services and products safely, effectively and efficiently to ensure JJM Construction’s principle of “Building to Last” endures for future generations.
- Using required welding techniques (with appropriate equipment) to assemble fabricated metal products in an efficient manner to maximize production.
- Producing strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Reading and interpreting drawings, welding processes and welding specifications.
- Perform fabrications based on applicable drawings and specifications.
- Perform other site duties or functions, consistent with status or vocational ability as may be required from time to time.
- Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public.
- Represent JJM to the public in a manner that is consistent with corporate values and goals.
- Lead by example.
Operational Performance and Best Practices
- Operating manual or semi-automatic or fully automated welding equipment.
- Operating turn tables, rolls, oxygen cutting equipment and hoisting and lifting equipment.
- Welding to customer specifications with little to no immediate supervision.
- Moving work pieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by hand truck
- Lifting, moving, and holding or clamping work pieces to table, into jigs, or into position as directed manually or by using pry bar.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
- Clean, lubricate and maintain all equipment, as scheduled and required.
- Operate hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
- Prepare inspection, maintenance, work reports and record details on prescribed forms and log books in accordance with established company procedures.
- Ability to read and understand blue prints and welding process specifications.
- Communicate effectively with crew via hand signals and radio communications (when applicable).
- Wear, and participate in the ongoing training of, the required PPE for the position.
Qualifications
JJM Construction Ltd. is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace with safety as a primary consideration in all we do.
- Four (4) years’ experience welding on heavy duty construction or marine equipment (or a minimum of 1000 hours).
- Welder Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement or a Welder B Certificate.
- Current CWB Certification.
- Experience in SMAW, MIG and TIG.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract (per company insurance requirements).
- CSTS-09 certificate (or CSTS-2020 or SiteReadyBC certificates as equivalent).
- WHIMIS-2015 certificate (valid within 3-years).
