SeaBus Maintenance Dock Temporary Berth

Client:
South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority (TransLink)
Location:
North Vancouver, BC

The purpose of the project was the to develop a temporary maintenance berth providing a tie-up and maintenance work location for new SeaBus vessels during upgrades to the primary maintenance berth. These upgrades were necessary to improve access and lighting along the existing walkway and to facilitate the increased use as a temporary maintenance berth.

The addition of new DEF system to the existing maintenance berth, requiring coordination of works with SeaBus maintenance crews, was also completed to consolidate all the maintenance and fueling operations into a single location.

Site considerations included limited land access to the maintenance berth and the close proximity of members of the public traveling and using the adjacent facilities. Water work was also influenced by wake from SeaBus vehicles causing platform movement. Increased awareness during construction activities was required to ensure the safety of personnel and the public.
